The one draft in my blog's post folder is called "Getting ready for classes" and it's from October 10th. About the time classes were actually starting. I had written a couple of paragraphs but I never finished the post. And while I was very eager to publish it, day after day it shifted more and more into the back of my head. I never completely forgot about it, but you see, the more time passed and the further I got into the semester, the less I could find time for it.
Needless to say that I didn't study all the time. Of course I had a lot of time on my hands. I went out with friends, went shopping, went to the movies many, many times, but whenever I want to publish something I want to take my time. I love writing. About anything really. It's just that, when I have classes and I have papers due and all of that, I really just don't feel like writing. Same goes for reading. I am crazy about reading. But classes just spoil that for me.
Now that I am on a two months break though, I feel like I can gather more momentum writing and publishing blog posts, so that by the time classes start again, I can keep it up.
And because you came here to read something at least a tiny bit interesting, here's what I have been doing the last two.. four couple of months:
My big goal for this semester was to actually start living in my apartment in Cologne. Until that point, I had spent two to three days at a time there and then I hastily packed my bags and left for my home town. That went on for seven months. Not exactly the point of renting an apartment. And not very good when it came to attending classes regularly when you're about 80 km away. (That's roughly 50 miles!)
But I did change that. I actually preferred staying in my own apartment and only visit family and friends over the weekends.
Another huge point that was on my list is a classic. Studying. More studying. Effect studying... and so on. It comes in every form and every color but it's basically the same. And while we all want to accomplish that one, it's the one thing that always ends up alone on the list, not being crossed off.
While I still put more effort into it, I still was overwhelmed after only a couple of weeks. I actually did more studying in this semester than in the last three combined. So I think I can be proud of myself. Although saying that I studied more in one semester than in three semesters together kinda puts me to shame as well.
One thing I successfully kept on doing for the most part was exercising and a maintaining a healthy diet.
When it comes to discipline I have two modes. None at all, or a super strong will. Which isn't that bad because at least 50% of the time I can be consistent.
But as I am only human and apparently destined to give in, the inevitable point comes where I break and I binge. Mostly when finals are coming up. Or during christmas time. Because let's be honest, I would make my mom sad if I didn't eat her delicious cookies and cakes on christmas time. And who would want to make their mom sad? Especially on christmas. Now that would be just rude.
I have got to admit though that my biggest problem with a healthy diet is that I never know what to eat. I usually stick to the three meals I know are good and healthy but I naturally get tired of them quickly. And when it comes to food I am plainly lacking any kind of creativity.
Thankfully my mom and my sister are just as crazy when it comes to eating healthy and tell me about all the interesting recipes they find on pinterest or instagram, etc.
Right now my favorite is the banana-egg-pancake which consists of 2 bananas and 4 eggs beat together. It's good, it's fast and delicious.
I did a lot more than that of course but let's keep it at that for now.
I hope to see you guys soon, and until next time! :)
